Indian man fatally shot in Texas robbery, consulate extends support

Recall the heinous act that occurred at a convenience store in the US state of Texas whereby a 32-year-old Indian national, Dasari Gopikrishna, was shot dead during a robbery. The deceased, Gopikrishna, was an IT employee who had traveled to the US from Bapatla district in Andhra Pradesh within the last year.

This unfortunate event happened at dusk at the gas station convenience store in Pleasant Grove, Dallas on June 21. The robbery left Gopikrishna critically injured, and he was rushed to a nearby medical facility to be treated for the injuries that he succumbed to on Sunday morning.

In a letter of condolence sent to Gopikrishna’s family, Consul General D C Manjunath said, “We have been shocked to learn of the untimely death of Indian citizen Gopi Krishna Dasari in a robbery shooting incident in Dallas, TX, and are in touch with the family.

Manjunath, present in this Sunday event in Dallas for a Yoga Day event, clarified for this correspondent of the PTI by confirming that this incident was not linked to a shooting in Arkansas, as detailed in various releases. The Consulate, as well as any support from the Indian association, are extending full cooperation to send Gopikrishna’s body to India once all legal and formalities like autopsy and death certificates are conducted.

This stupid event has had a serious impact on the Indian community in Dallas and other adjacent cities. His bereaved family is his wife and son.

P Muralidhar Rao of BJP stated, “It is very shocking for me to know that Dasari Gopikrishna from Bapatla lost his life in a shooting incident in Texas, USA.My heartfelt condolences to his family.

That is why our Government of Andhra Pradesh is ready to support in every way to send his dead body to our country. Kindly stand with the family to extend full support at this crucial moment. We pray
