Three members of an Indian-origin family were killed in a car accident in Texas, USA. Both the couple as well as their daughter got into a fatal accident en route to the University of Dallas in North Texas.
The incident took place at 5:45:17 AM on Wednesday in Lampass County, local media said.
The victims, who were all residents of Leander, were named Arvind Mani (45), his wife Pradeepa Arvind (40), and their daughter Andril Arvind, aged 17 years.
He and Pradeepa were en route to North Texas, taking their daughter to college. Andril has completed high school and was planning to go to the University of Dallas to major in a computer science degree.
Arvind and Pradeepa’s young son, Adiryan, somehow was not in the car when the accident occurred, and he alone is alive now. A GoFundMe campaign has been started for the mourning boy, and so far more than 81, 000 USD has been collected for him.
As was widely reported in the media, the accident took a toll of five people, including the driver of the other car involved in the collision. The family’s car burst into flames as it hit the other car.
An officer from the police force said it was the worst ever road accident he had come across in the 26 years of his work for the police. Speaking about the scope of the crash, he claimed no one stood a chance.
