Iran Conducts Ballistic Missile Drill Amid Nuclear Tensions

The final 25 seconds show dozens of what appear to be burning balls dropping over an urban center; many explode mid-air, but quite a few seem to strike the ground.

New Delhi:
Iran, for the second time in seven months on Tuesday, conducted an all-out missile assault on Israel and rained missiles on military bases branded ‘Operation True Promise II.’

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed the attack as retaliation to the killing of last week’s Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and sharply escalated military tension in West Asia.

A chilling video posted to X by the Iranian news channel Press TV shows multiple rockets firing off, arcing into the night sky to fill it with a deafening roar.

As the video plays out, the camera pans to show more sky, and the number of burning orange spots appearing on the horizon increases.

The final 25 seconds of the footage reveal dozens of what looks like burning balls falling over an urban center; many explode mid-air, having been intercepted successfully.

Yet another video shared online displayed a massive crater near the Mossad HQ in Tel Aviv.

CNN independently geolocated this video to verify that it was shot from a high-rise apartment building in Herzliya, less than 3 km from the Mossad headquarters.

The barrage of over 180 projectiles included, for the first time, the Fattah hypersonic missiles. The missiles’ trajectory meant they streaked over Jordan, too, with Amman announcing a suspension of air traffic.

However, Israel’s formidable multi-layered aerial defense system, at the core of which is the Iron Dome, was in action to intercept the missiles.
