Iranian President Raisi dies in Helicopter crash with senior officials

Tragic Helicopter Crash Claims Life of Iranian President Raisi.

Iran was plunged into mourning with the tragic demise of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash that also killed key cabinet members including Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

Rare footage by state media showed Raisi looking out of the chopper’s window just before takeoff, sitting across senior colleagues. But within 30 minutes of departing, all contact with the aircraft was lost.

Nearly a day later, recovery teams located the mangled wreckage on a remote mountain. While initial statements called it an ‘accident,’ questions loomed over the mysterious crash.

A solemn nation paid tributes to the departed leader who had pursued closer ties with India. PM Modi echoed the grief, saying Raisi’s efforts at strengthening bilateral bonds will be forever remembered.

The PM added that India stands in solidarity with Iran during this difficult time. His earlier message conveying ‘deep concern’ about the missing chopper underscored the strong rapport.

The sudden tragic demise has deprived Iran of its president and diplomats at a critical junction. Investigations are yet to offer clear answers about the circumstances around one of the deadliest air disasters to have hit the West Asian nation in recent times.
