The Iranian authorities are now investigating an emergency that occurred to one of the helicopters during Raisis’s official performance on Sunday.
Based on a statement made by Ukraine’s Interior Minister, one of the helicopters that transported the President caused a landing crash, forcing search and rescue teams to be deployed to the described location. The Minister noted that waiting for clarification of details concerning the case is the responsibility of staff to carry out investigations.
The IRNA news agency, a state television channel, announced that the tragic incident occurred during the transportation of President Raisi along with other ministry officials, including the foreign minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian. This agency, which does not have an official status, will discuss the President’s condition shortly and call on Iranians everywhere to pray for the President’s recovery.
Raisi, 63, made it to the presidency’s office in 2021, replacing his former unsuccessful attempt. During his governance, he started a campaign of tightening moral rules and used harsh force measures to oppress the parastatals that disrespect the Government within the country. The President has not only functioned as the main figure but has also acted as the main player in Iran’s nuclear talks with the world’s main powers.
Many experts pointed to this year’s election as a serious test for the ruling elite. The possibility that Raisi could be the eventual successor to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader, weighed heavily on many political observers. At present, there is no clarity about the details of the incident. Still, the Iranian authorities have reaffirmed that the death of a famous Iranian football player under the circumstances is being probed thoroughly.
