Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Oman on Saturday to conduct key nuclear negotiations with the United States. Prior to the high-stakes meeting, he met with Omani officials, Iranian state media said.
The talks are a significant milestone as Iran and the United States are on the verge of sitting down to negotiate Tehran’s nuclear program. Steve Witkoff, former President Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy, will lead the U.S. team. With America set on clinching a new deal, alarms are being raised that unless a deal is agreed upon, military action would be the result.
Araghchi emphasized Iran’s desire for an “honorable and fair” deal with America. He replied, “Our objective is to reach a fair and honorable deal on equal ground. If the other party as well is arriving from that kind of attitude then hopefully there is going to be a chance to start an understanding that paves the way to negotiations.”
