Islamabad High Court raises doubts over evidence in Imran Khan’s cipher case

Islamabad High Court has shaken public confidence in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) because former PM Imran Khan unlawfully possessed a secret cable, which has gone missing. These events made headlines when the appellants in the case, Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi, filed an appeal against their conviction in the cipher case during the court hearings.

A two-man composition of the Division bench of Islamabad High Court made up of Acting Chief Justice Mr. Aamer Farooq and Mr. Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, questioned the lack of documents with the prosecuting party that could show Imran Khan’s possession of the purpose.

During the hearing, the court wanted to know whether the First Information Report mentioning the abduction of Azam Khan, the former chairman of the local district, had ever been registered or not. The council was asked to file a challenge or submit the discharged report by 2nd May 2018.

Along with that, the ex-husband of Imran Khan’s current wife, Khawar Farid’s Maneka, requested the transfer of the case to shift the appeal against Imran and his spouse got picked up on the grounds of there being partiality and sympathy on the side of the ruling party.
