Israel claims $500 million in cash and gold found in Hezbollah bunker

Israel alleges Hezbollah storing $500 million in gold, and cash in a bunker under Beirut Hospital.

Israel has claimed that Iran-backed Hezbollah is hiding $500 million worth of gold and cash in a secret bunker under a Beirut hospital formerly used by slain leader Hassan Nasrallah.

IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari revealed photos and a simulation of the underground structure located directly beneath Al-Sahel Hospital in the Lebanese capital.

However, he maintained Israel has no plans to target the site due to its construction under a medical facility.

Hagari urged Lebanese authorities to inspect the facility, saying the money could have rehabilitated Lebanon instead of aiding Hezbollah‘s activities.

He explained Iran finances the group through various means including an NGO providing civilian services. Factories operated by Hezbollah in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Turkey also generate funds.

The bunker contains residential areas and is connected to two buildings for entry-exit, according to Israeli intelligence.

While Israel’s fight is against Hezbollah, not the Lebanese people, the group uses civilians as shields, claimed Hagari.

Israel claims it struck another Hezbollah bunker this week holding tens of millions in cash-gold as part of action on its financial mechanisms. But it refrained from this sensitive site given humanitarian considerations.
