Israel-Gaza clashes continue as Netanyahu rejects partial ceasefire.
Fighting between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza persisted as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said operations will continue even if a limited ceasefire is agreed.
As per a US-mediated proposal on May 31, a partial truce involving ending hostilities in Gaza may be discussed. However, Netanyahu stated the war will go on till threats are addressed. This rebuts the ceasefire plan and shows he does not accept the terms, say Hamas leaders.
Save The Children warns over 21,000 children may be unaccounted for in Gaza since clashes began on October 7.
Meanwhile, Israel’s military asserts it intercepted a Gaza rocket near Rafah. Air defense systems were activated before the projectile was destroyed, officials said.
Sirens also sounded in Israeli areas bordering Gaza’s Kerem Shalom crossing for humanitarian aid.
Separately, Thailand will resume farm labor exports to Israel this week after an eight-month pause over security concerns.
About 100 workers will fly out initially with over 10,000 expected by year-end, as per the Thai government.
Thirty-nine Thai nationals were killed in the October 7 violence, with six still believed captive in Gaza. Intense conflicts persist on the ground with diplomats ramping up efforts for a durable ceasefire.
