Israel strikes kill over 300 in Gaza amid GHF focus

Gaza’s Government Media Office reports Israel has performed ’26 bloody massacres’ in the past 48 hours. Over 300 Palestinians were killed by Israeli troops in the past 48 hours, the Gaza Government Media Office reports, adding that Israel has “committed 26 bloody massacres” during this time.

At least 118 Palestinians were murdered and 581 others were wounded in Israeli assaults throughout the Gaza Strip during the last 24 hours, the enclave’s Health Ministry announced Thursday. At least 73 of the dead were murdered since morning, including 33 aid seekers at the contentious Israeli and United States-supported Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) aid centres.

Thirteen were slain when Israeli troops stormed a tent in the south of al-Mawasi, and 16 were slain and numerous others injured in an assault on Mustafa Hafez School, which is a major shelter for displaced individuals west of Gaza City, medical sources informed Al Jazeera.

Ahmed Mansour, one of the Palestinian displaced persons who was seeking refuge inside the school building, stated, “We woke up to intense [Israeli] airstrikes. It was like an earthquake.

They say it was a drone attack, but the noise was terrifying, constant shelling. Missiles were so powerful that they ignited everything in their path. The victims were burning for hours, and nobody helped. No one is here to rescue us.”

The Government Media Office report on Thursday noted the attacks in the past 48 hours had been on civilians in shelters and overcrowded displacement centres with tens of thousands of displaced persons, public rest stops, Palestinian families within their homes, crowded markets and essential civilian structures, and starving civilians who were looking for food.

Reporting from Deir el-Balah on the latest killings of Palestinians near GHF aid centres, Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum said, “People described scenes of horror as they wait for hours just hoping to get their hands on basic food supplies, only to be met with sudden and unprovoked gunfire … I’ve been speaking to several survivors this morning, and they told me such heartbreaking testimonies and they shared the horrific scenes that unfolded near the GHF-run aid centres.

They informed me that there was no warning, no advance notice – only gunfire tearing through the crowd, desperate Palestinians running for cover as bullets flew.

They informed me that emergency crews and medical personnel were not able to reach the scene because of the ferocity of the gunfire … This is a complete expression of the breakdown of the humanitarian environment here in Gaza,” he added.
