Israeli forces have intensified their bombardment of Gaza, targeting areas such as Jabalia in the north and Abasan al-Kabira in the south. This escalation coincides with talks between rival Palestinian groups Fatah and Hamas in Cairo, where they are discussing proposals to reopen the Rafah border crossing.
A senior medical official in Gaza accused Israeli forces of using “internationally prohibited weapons,” as such munitions can “vaporise” entire bodies, the disturbing development comes after the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate, as UNRWA announced the suspension of shipments through the Karem Abu Salem crossing because of a series of attacks on aid convoys.
The toll of the conflict has been staggering, with reports indicating that at least 44,429 Palestinians have been killed and over 105,250 injured since the escalation began on October 7, 2023. On that day, Hamas-led attacks resulted in the deaths of at least 1,139 individuals in Israel, with more than 200 others taken captive.
The impact is not only on Gaza. Lebanon also suffered significant casualties. Since the war, at least 3,961 people have been killed and 16,520 wounded in Israeli attacks within Lebanon. The humanitarian crisis continues to worsen, with the violence demanding an urgent call for international intervention and support.
