The Israeli protesters managed to disrupt the aid trucks that were meant for Gaza. Thus, the whole world was against them. The incident was at the Tarqumiya checkpoint in the occupied West Bank, where the people blocked the trucks, threw food packages on the road, and ripped open the bags of grain. The trucks from Jordan were carrying humanitarian aid, which was urgent for the people of Gaza.
The White House vehemently condemned the attack by calling the looting of aid convoys a shocking occurrence. The protesters proclaimed themselves to be the ones who were protesting the ongoing detention of Israeli hostages in Gaza. The untrue images on social media revealed the protesters who broke the boxes and damaged the vehicles.
Israeli media reports claimed the protest was caused by the Tzav 9 activists group, which is a right-wing organization that wants to stop the transfers of aid to Gaza until the release of the Israeli hostages. Four protesters, including a minor, were reportedly taken to the police.
The incident took place on Israel’s Day of Memorial, which is to celebrate the people who lost their lives in war and terrorism. Thus, while the crushed Phoenician ships were cleared off, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has not improved, and the UN’s World Food Programme has observed the famine would be more severe. Israel still claims that it aids the delivery of goods to Gaza, but at the same time, Hamas is accusing the Israelis of misusing them.
