Israeli raids in Jenin block aid access amid rising violence

The assault in Jenin, which is in the occupied West Bank, has escalated with more Israeli military operations and severing the supply of humanitarian aid to Palestinians on the fourth day of the attack. Many soldiers are surrounding the Jenin refugee camp, with military vehicles constantly moving in the vicinity. There is evidence that houses in Jabriyat were shelled, thus leading to one of the biggest operations in the military in the last twenty years.

Jenin was like a ‘ghost town’ with shut shops. The population could not venture out as communication was jammed. Groups of people roam the streets, but the paramedics do not have a way of getting to those in desperate need. On the other hand, some people resort to begging for food, water, and medical supplies.

Heavy fighting between Palestinian militias and Israeli forces has been reported, and videos displaying destruction. The Palestinian Health Ministry has said that 20 people have died as a result of the military operations, while the Israeli army says that it aims to act against factions in the West Bank.

The situation in Hebron has not improved and, in fact, has drastically worsened with multiple checkpoints set up by the Israeli forces. This wave of violence has led to close to 600 Palestinian deaths & many detentions in the West Bank since the escalation of the conflict.
