Israel-Hezbollah violence escalates, over 100 dead in Lebanon strikes.
The confrontation between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon has intensified with over 100 reported dead in Israeli air raids on Monday. Lebanese health authorities said the strikes in southern and eastern regions have killed 100 and injured more than 400, including women and children.
The IDF claimed striking over 300 Hezbollah targets and released images of military leaders overseeing the operations. Pro-Israeli groups shared a video of jets bombarding a Lebanese village.
Hezbollah said it retaliated by attacking Israeli military production sites and positions, naming the Rafael site near Haifa. As strikes widened, Lebanon closed schools for two days in affected areas and hospitals postponed non-urgent surgeries.
Condemning the “war of extermination”, Lebanese PM Mikati urged the UN to deter Israel’s “aggression”. Iraq’s top Shia cleric also called for efforts to stop the violence targeting Hezbollah.
Israeli Defence Minister attended a meeting on preparing communities as the military warned civilians to evacuate Hezbollah locations.
Tensions remain high with prospects of further escalation looming large. The international community faces mounting pressure to de-escalate the conflict risking a broader destabilization.
