An audit report of an EU diplomatic service, accessed by Reuters and AFP, examined Israel’s moves in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. There are signs that Israel possibly violated its human rights commitments under the provisions of an agreement regulating its relations with the European Union, a draft of the review indicates.
In a document presented to the Reuters and AFP news agencies on Friday, according to an EU document, the European External Action Service stated that Israel’s moves in Gaza did not probably conform with rules established in the EU-Israel Association.
Based on the findings of the independent international organizations ., there are reasons to believe that Israel would violate its human rights obligations,” the EU’s diplomatic service wrote in an audit.
The report follows months of increasing anxiety in European capitals regarding Israel’s activities in Gaza and the humanitarian situation within the enclave.
Israel’s ongoing limitation of access to the delivery of food, drugs, medical supplies, and other essential commodities impacts the entire Gaza population on the occupied territory,” it stated.
The report contains a part devoted to the Gaza situation – issues of denial of humanitarian assistance, attacks with a high number of victims, attacks on medical centres, displacement and impunity – as well as the situation in the occupied West Bank, including violence by settlers, according to Reuters.
The report stated that it is based on “facts checked by and judgments reached by independent international institutions, and with an eye for most recent developments in Gaza and the West Bank.”.
