PM Modi’s France Visit: PM Modi sounded a warning for AI, “Some people worry about machines becoming superior in intelligence to humans.” US Vice President JD Vance complimented Prime Minister Narendra Modi when the latter addressed the dangers of Artificial Intelligence at a summit in Paris. “Global efforts on AI must be to develop ‘open source systems that enhance trust and transparency,’ said PM Modi.
He said on AI: “We need to build quality data centres free of biases, democratise technology, and innovate people-centred applications. We need to address issues surrounding cyber security, disinformation, deepfakes, and ensure that technology is rooted in local ecosystems for it to be impactful and useful”.
Cautioning about the threats of AI, PM Modi said, “Some people worry that machines will get smarter than human beings. No one holds the key to our collective future and shared destiny except us humans. That sense of responsibility must guide us.”
JD Vance praised the speech of PM Modi as he warned that hostile countries have weaponised AI. Thanking PM Modi for co-hosting the AI Paris summit, JD Vance said, “I appreciate PM Modi’s point…AI will really facilitate and make people more productive; it is not going to replace human beings.”
