RNC report claims Biden has spent over 40% of the presidency on vacation.
US President Joe Biden has taken as many as 532 vacation days so far, amounting to over 40% of his term, according to a report by Republican platform RNC Research.
It stated Biden’s time off equals around 48 years’ worth of the average American worker’s annual 10-14 paid leave days.
In a tweet sharing a video of Biden relaxing at a beach, RNC Research asked “Who’s running the country?”
Last year too the organisation had accused Biden of spending 382 days or 40% of his tenure till August 2023 away from the White House.
However, a Washington Post fact check reported Biden took 256 days of leave in the first 853 days as per pool reports. Donald Trump also availed over 250 days during this period, it noted.
Biden recently withdrew from the 2024 reelection race after a debate with Trump raised concerns about his fitness. The Democratic Party has since nominated Kamala Harris to face the Republicans in November polls.
While ending his campaign, Biden said he will complete his remaining presidential duties by January 2025. The frequency of his breaks outside Washington continues to attract political debate.
