Kamala Harris’ lead shrinks as Trump gains ground in US presidential election 2024

Harris, Trump locked in tight race ahead of US elections.

Recent polls point to a close contest between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump in the United States presidential elections scheduled on November 5.

An NBC News survey shows the Democratic and Republican nominees tied at 48% nationally, reflecting Harris’ diminished five-point lead from last month.

ABC News and CBS News polls, too, indicate the races neck-and-neck, with Harris ahead by just 2 and 3 percentage points, respectively, lower than before.

Data suggests Harris is struggling to consolidate support among key voting blocs like African Americans and Hispanics at levels previous Democratic candidates did.

While leading among women overall, she has failed to drum up as much enthusiasm among men from these communities, who are backing Trump more than earlier.

Barack Obama recently expressed concern over some Black men making excuses to not vote for the first woman president.

On the campaign trail, Harris slammed Trump for spreading misinformation about hurricane relief while he promised border security measures like hiring more agents.

With election day nearing, both candidates focused on battleground states at events discussing key political issues but final results remain uncertain in the photo-finish polls predict.
