United States Vice President Kamala Harris has come out with a video for her supporters in light of her recent defeat during the presidential elections, sending shockwaves among social media users. The video, shared by the official X account of the Democratic Party on November 26, features Harris addressing those who may feel disheartened by the election results.
In her message, Harris emphasized to the audience the importance of resilience: “I just have to remind you, don’t let anybody take your power from you. You have the same power that you did before Nov. 5, and you have the same purpose that you did. And you have the same ability to engage and inspire. So don’t ever let anybody or any circumstance take your power from you.”
Reactions to the video were decidedly mixed, with many users on X noting something was “off” about Harris’s appearance. A few questioned how such a video was allowed to be posted publicly. DC Examiner contributor Kimberly Ross commented, “Is this a.joke? It’s a terrible video. Yikes.”
Fox News contributor Joe Concha said, “I’m not sure you guys want to be amplifying this. There’s something, ummmm, off with the vice president.” OutKick columnist Mary Katharine Ham added, “When you hand your phone to someone to police your social media posts when y’all go hard, you wanna hand it to someone who likes you.”
Critics continued to pile on, with National Review’s Dan McLaughlin writing that no politician who is popular with their staff would ever allow a video like this to see the light of day. “The joy is gone,” said the Republican Committee of Prince William County. Former Trump adviser Ben Williamson asked how this had been greenlighted out of a video production studio.
Overall, the video by Harris marks her first communication to supporters since she conceded to President-elect Donald Trump. Harris acknowledged disappointment from the outcome of the election but proud that the campaign fought a good fight. “The outcome of this election obviously is not what we wanted. It is not what we worked so hard for. But I am proud of the race we ran, and your role in this was critical,” she said.
