The US Presidential nominee, Kamala Harris, reacted strongly to the Republican nominee, Donald Trump after he proclaimed at a rally in Wisconsin that he would “protect” women “whether the women like it or not.” Less than a week into the US presidential elections, both candidates are making their final appeals to voters.
As he had said during the rally in Green Bay, “I’m going to do it whether the women like it or not. I got to protect them. I’m going to protect them from migrants coming in. I’m going to protect them from foreign countries that want to hit us with missiles and lots of other things.”.
Harris shot back on social media:
“Donald Trump thinks he should get to make decisions about what you do with your body. Whether you like it or not.”
The same message came from Harris campaign spokeswoman Sarafina Chitika, who said Trump “thinks he knows better than the women of America.”
In response, Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said that, while Harris may be the first woman Vice President, she has advanced “dangerously liberal policies” that have worsened women’s financial security and safety compared to four years ago under the Trump administration.
“Women deserve a President who will secure our nation’s borders, remove violent criminals from our neighbourhoods, and build an economy that helps our families thrive – and that’s exactly what President Trump will do,” said Leavitt.
