Kamala Harris drew criticism for her SNL appearance due to her apparent similarity to Donald Trump from his 2015 appearance on the show. Many had accused her of plagiarism due to a lack of uniqueness.
SNL shocked all the viewers as they could not imagine seeing Kamala Harris sitting right next to herself, speaking as if on another turn as VP during Mary Rudolph’s impersonation in a dress playing for a cold open, two figures playing off from mirror to each other with events about their respective campaigning talks. Still, viewers have already spotted a chartering eeriness in Donald Trump’s appearance at that event in 2015 in the sketch played off Harris.
According to the Daily Mail, people took to social media to discuss Harris’s SNL appearance because many felt they had seen it somewhere before. She appeared on the show briefly during Fortis’ cold open, mirroring Rudolph’s Harris. She seemed immediately after the sketch, which was an attempt at humorously recounting recent campaign events.
Nine years ago, Trump appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, in which he interviewed himself. Here, actor Gary Busey played the character of Trump, and the two sat facing each other at a vanity, similar to what has been reported about Harris’s SNL skit, according to The Guardian.
Trump’s act was a cold opening to Fallon’s show, and the Vice President’s was a cold opening to another show. Both shows are on the same channel—NBC.
