Khalistani extremism resurfaces in Canada, warns Indian-origin MP

While the nation is gearing up to commemorate the death anniversary of Air India Flight 182 bombing, a first-time elected representative in the Canadian Parliament of Indian origin has cautioned about Newcomer Khalistani Terrorism at home.

During a meeting in the Canadian Parliament, Chandra Arya shared what had happened in 1985 to the passengers and crew members of the Pakistan Airlines Aircraft, where 329 people lost their lives, and referred to it as the worst incidence of mass killings in the country.

Arya’s reaction came in light of recent incidents where the Kalistan idea resurfaced in Canada, threatening the powers of Hindu Canadians. He described the incident to be that of a ‘cowardly act of terror’ planned by Canadian-based Khalistani separatists. He said that the ‘Giani’ or ‘dark forces’ responsible for the tragedy of Air India are back again.

“Unfortunately, many Canadians are not aware that even till now, the ideas that led to this terrorist attack still exist in the minds of some people in Canada,” Arya added. “Recent celebrations of the assassination of Hindu Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by the Khalistan supporters, singing and dancing on streets to slogans of hate in the form of violence indicate that the ugly forces have been rejuvenated again, which is a sign of horrifying days to come.”

Memorial service is scheduled for Queen’s Park, Toronto, to be arranged by the Consulate General of India in Toronto, in which Indian Canadians will celebrate their lives and pay respect to the deceased victims of the Air India tragedy and will express its firm condemnation against terrorism.

This anniversary comes at a time there is tension between India and Canada over the comment by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau regarding Indian involvement in the killing of terrorist Khalistani.

Thus, Arya’s comments highlighted the ongoing risks posed by Khalistani terrorists and emphasized the importance of addressing the problem collectively and aggressively.

While commemorating the Air India bombing tragedy, Canadians are united in pursuit of hope and the ability to overcome such calamities, the echo of which can be heard within the Ottawa Parliament.
