Kremlin responds to Zelenskyy’s call for Putin to attend talks

The Kremlin announced on Monday that President Vladimir Putin is indeed serious about seeking peace through face-to-face negotiations with Ukraine but refused to elaborate after Ukraine pushed for the Russian president to personally attend the negotiations.

The Kremlin announced on Monday that President Vladimir Putin is truly dedicated to achieving peace through direct negotiations with Ukraine but refused to elaborate after Ukraine demanded that the Russian president come for the talks in person.

On Sunday, Putin suggested face-to-face negotiations in Turkey to put an end to the war. US President Donald Trump publicly instructed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to accept, but Zelenskyy replied that he would but that Putin must come in person.

We are determined to make a serious search for means of long-term peaceful settlement,” Reuters quoted Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying, referring to the collapsed 2022 negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Peskov stated that numerous leaders had embraced Putin’s policy.

“This policy, directed specifically towards the achievement of a genuine diplomatic resolution of the Ukrainian conflict, removing the causes of the war and securing eternal peace, was met with an understanding and positive response by the leaders of most countries.”.

He mentioned positive responses from US President Donald Trump, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and from members of the BRICS group as well as former Soviet Union nations.

Before the journalists could fire another question about the talks to be proposed, Peskov replied: “That’s all. I’ve said everything I could about this story.”
