A Chinese man required surgery after a childbirth simulation organized by his girlfriend in Henan. The intense pain caused him to be hospitalized, and the engagement was off. A Chinese man went under the knife to have a section of his small intestine taken out after he went through a three-hour childbirth simulation at the behest of his girlfriend.
The female, from Henan province, took her boyfriend to the simulation centre for an “examination” before they got married. This was sponsored by her family, who were convinced the session would help make him a better husband. Hesitant at first, the boyfriend complied.
The simulation used electrical currents to mimic labour contractions. The intensity gradually increased over the first 90 minutes, peaking at the highest level for the rest of the time. The girlfriend described her boyfriend starting to scream and struggle at level 8, reaching cries and gasps for air by level 10, South China Morning Post reported quoting NetEase News.
Then the boyfriend experienced extreme abdominal pain, vomiting, and fatigue. The woman told him that they did not mean to hurt him but to give him an idea of the pains of giving birth.
But one week later, the condition of the man worsened, and he was hospitalised. Doctors found irreversible damage to one part of his small intestine. The woman disclosed that the engagement had been called off and her boyfriend’s family was considering legal action against her. Though taking responsibility for her boyfriend’s plight, the woman wished for his recovery.
The incident created a hot debate on Chinese social media, with people criticising the woman’s behaviour and highlighting the big differences between acting in pain and the experience of giving birth. Legal professionals also weighed in, opining that the woman could be financially penalized for the injuries sustained by the man.
