Mass evacuations and intense shelling in Gaza’s Khan Younis and Rafah

Gaza conflict intensifies as Israeli attacks force mass evacuations.

Hundreds fled the European Hospital in Khan Younis as Israel ordered evacuation from eastern areas of Gaza’s second-largest city. At least one death was reported in shelling of a house there.

Patients and displaced people from tent camps were among those evacuating amid Israeli tanks trapping civilians in Rafah and Shujayea, northern Gaza City.

A freed hospital director alleged Gaza captives faced “almost daily torture” in Israeli jails reported to be “full”. Over 37,900 Palestinians have been killed and 80,060 injured so far according to figures.

Israel’s Channel 12 said the military needs 4 more weeks to eliminate all tunnels in Rafah. Drone attacks and artillery shelling persisted in Shujayea too for the sixth day.

Two houses bombed in the northern Nuseirat refugee camp killed two Palestinians including a child. Shelling of Khan Younis’ eastern areas resulted in eight deaths from strikes on displaced people’s shelters.

Rafah witnessed house bombings as artillery pounded most areas. The AFP reported multiple Khan Younis strikes overnight, leaving 38 wounded and 8 dead. The displacement of residents heightened fear amid the evacuation orders. Intense skirmishes continued across Gaza.
