Moscow shooting raises questions on Russian security; Kremlin acknowledges terrorism threat

However last week’s shooting in the Crocus Hall in Moscow means that many painful questions are already being asked on the subject of Russian security practically. It is noteworthy to mention that the assault approximately resulted in 140 killed and 182 injured, which emphasizes the state’s vulnerability to such terrorist acts.

The Russian authorities have moved swiftly so far as the Kremlin takes account of the present ongoing threat of terrorism and claims that we all live and operate in a world where no country is safe. The ongoing investigation is trying to establish the circumstances and reasons why the incident occurred, but from the security point of view, this incident has demonstrated the flaws and inadequacies of our security personnel.

Three assailants, including one who was from Tajikistan, essentially took over the concert hall during a Picnic concert, an outstanding Soviet group that had a rich musical history. A scene of horror was created when they, at the same time, killed the whole helpless crowd. Consequently, sadness was all over the place. The Islamic State leadership claimed having directed the attack, alleging their fighters buried with a load of arms inside them.

Nonetheless, Russia´s President Vladimir Putin announced his theory, where he provided hints suggesting that Ukraine was responsible for the massacre. He directed the blame squarely at the fleeing perpetrators, insisting that a passage had been prepared for them to march out and escape hiding in Ukrainian territory.

Where there is strife between Russia and the US adds complexity to the issue. The United States has referred to ISIS-K as reason for the airport attack, but Russia speaks up against such assertions, erroneously trying to confound the U.S. interests in Kyiv. Being still in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the interview is a bit more challenging to hold.

While the investigation is in progress, issues such as how perfect Russian security is and whether that security was enough to prevent the terrorist act all come to light. The Moscow shooting shows us a painful reality,, i.e., terrorism is always dangerous, stable, and capable of revenge in any corner, even in the most guarded city as Moscow.

This tragedy draws our attention to the vitality of constantly reviewing and upgrading public areas’ security protocols to safeguard and protect life from criminals. The investigating authorities need to identify together with the detailed background of the shooting, bring the offenders a book, and make sure tighter measures are put up to prevent similar actions from being done.

At the heart of this calamity, the Russian people emerge as a symbol of strength and unity as they stand firm in the face of this terrorism threat not letting themselves be impeded by fear and terror but standing up against them as they have always done before.
