Elon Musk threatened to start a new political party following the US House’s passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill. Billionaire Elon Musk stated on Monday that he would start a new political party in the United States when a Republican-leaning Congress approves President Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill”, which includes tax deductions and budget cuts for healthcare and food programs.
Musk has criticised the bill several times throughout the past month and started proposing the concept of the new party on social media from early June. Musk has been stating that Republicans are just like Democrats, whom conservatives are typically suspicious of being wasteful when spending taxpayers’ money, if the bill is approved.
The bill currently being debated by the Senate, in the event that it is approved by both houses of Congress, would add $3.3 trillion to the national debt between 2034 and 2025. The current national debt of the US is over $36 trillion.
“If this crazy spending bill gets passed, the America Party will be launched tomorrow,” Musk tweeted on his social media site, X, on Monday. Our nation requires a replacement for the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the masses finally have a VOICE.”
In a previous post, Musk stated: “It is clear with the out-of-control spending of this bill, which raises the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we are a one-party nation – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!”
The US Congress-established debt ceiling specifies the maximum amount of money the US Treasury is allowed to borrow. The debt ceiling stands at $36.1 trillion. After being once a key Trump aide and a heavy campaign contributor, Musk had a very public online feud with the president in June following his criticism of the bill.
