Israel PM’s office denies report of talk with former US President.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office has denied a media report about an alleged conversation between the Israeli leader and former US President Donald Trump.
According to the statement, Netanyahu did not speak to Trump as reported by the American news outlet Axios citing unnamed sources. One source reportedly said Trump’s call aimed to encourage Netanyahu regarding a Gaza deal but noted uncertainty over the call’s content.
The report came as Egypt, the US, and Qatar are set to hold new negotiations today over the Gaza ceasefire and the release of hostages.
No comment was available from the Trump campaign on the conversation report. Netanyahu’s statement aimed to clarify that the purported talk with the former president did not take place as stated in some media accounts citing anonymous sourcing.
The denial indicates no confirmed contact occurred between Netanyahu and Trump on the sensitive issues currently being diplomatically addressed in the Middle East conflict.
