Netanyahu rejects ceasefire proposal amid ongoing conflict with Hezbollah

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that his government has done nothing so far to implement the US-and-allies-proposed 21-day ceasefire in conflict with Hezbollah. A statement provided by Netanyahu’s office explained that the American-French proposal was not even answered, adding that the Prime Minister ordered the military to continue to act with full force.

In a related development, the Israeli military said on Thursday morning that a tank brigade was trained a few kilometers from the Lebanese border. Held on difficult-to-access mountainous terrain, the exercise was aimed at improving the troops’ readiness for various combat scenarios and ensuring their logistic support in enemy territory along the northern front.

Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, in turn, signaled that his government was committed to countering Hezbollah: “We will continue to keep Hezbollah off balance and deepen their losses.” This comment underlines the Israeli leadership’s continued resolve to engage the conflict decisively.
