Newly-wedded Indian-origin man killed in Indiana road rage incident

In a rather gruesome incident, only thirty-year-old Gavin Dasaur from Agra, India, was shot dead in what appears to have been a road rage incident in Indianapolis, Indiana. The unfortunate occurrence happened on Tuesday evening, just about three weeks after Dasaur had wedded his Mexican wife, Viviana Zamora.

The police said the accident occurred at about 8 PM at a junction in southeast Indianapolis. Police got a complaint of a man down, and on getting to the scene, they saw Dasaur lying in the middle of the road with at least one bullet wound. As much as the young man was rushed to hospital, he unfortunately drowned in his blood.

From the incident captured on camera and statements, it is believed that Dasaur, in a hat, green shirt, and carrying a brown cargo short, provoked and gesticulated aggressively at the driver of the white Chevrolet pick-up truck he was using. It was also evident from the confrontation that Dasaur was using excessive force and body language when he punched the truck’s door with a firearm in his hand.

Unfortunately, the truck driver proceeded to shoot Dasaur several times. The man suspected to have fired the shots was apprehended at the scene but was freed after consultations with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, as he might have shot in defense.

Dasaur’s newly wedded wife, Viviana Zamora, broke down after hearing the news. I carried him as he gradually died, and I was waiting for the emergency reception to arrive, the girl shared with The Indianapolis Star.

Both of us were so in love, and we had many things planned. I was certain that we would soon start a family, and we were on our honeymoon and planned to travel around the world.

The case is still unsolved; the Marion County Coroner’s Office is planning to perform an autopsy to establish the manner and cause of Dasaur’s death.

Unfortunately, this incident has again illustrated the necessity to enhance people’s awareness and the urgency of implementing the measures aimed at the application of nonviolent approaches to prevent killing on the roads.
