Ohio Ballot uncertainty: Joe Biden’s inclusion in question

Despite the presidential nomination certifications being required before the Democratic National Committee (DNC), the national party faces challenges due to a scheduling conflict between the congressional party nomination and the DNC. The Ohio Secretary of State has contacted the chair of the Ohio Democratic Party, Liz Watters, seeking elaboration on apparent discrepancies in the regulatory framework.

The law specifies the date of the candidacy filing be no later than 8/07 by the registered party’s nominee affidavit with the Secretary of State’s office. Besides this, a challenge is that the DNC is on August 19th in Chicago, Illinois, giving a slim 14-day gap between the dates.

It is of high risk that Biden’s name cannot appear on the ballot. The second option discussed by Paul DeSantis, an employee in the Secretary of State’s office, was a lawyer. But until this is done, Desantis thinks the Democratic National Committee will have to readjust the convention date to accommodate the statutory provision or the Ohio General Assembly will create an exception to the statutory requirement for the May 9, 2024, convention.

Legislators from the Congressional Districts 2 and 3, both state senator Nickie Antonio and state representative Alison Russo, have been in an agreement that deals with this issue.

The situation is closely monitored, and it is presumed that Joe Biden will be on the ballot in all 50 states, as a spokesperson from the campaign team says. But this is not the first time that he has ever encounter ballot related challenges, Biden was even not listed as a candidate in NH ballot while there is a primary season and he scheduled his campaigns.

Ohio, an in recent elections historic key state remains in the spot lighted as the concern related with Biden noninclusion of Ohio continues to rise.
