Outrage over Israeli forces burning Quran at Gaza Mosque

In a rather blasphemous provocation this time, the Palestinian organization Hamas has criticized the fact that Israeli soldiers have recently burnt copies of the Quran in a mosque in the Gaza Strip and urged the Arab and Muslim states and bodies to do the same.

They condemned the ‘extremist’ nature and ‘hate-filled criminal’ behavior of the Israeli soldiers and said that The burning of the Muslim holy book and the desecration of mosques ‘confirms the fascist behavior against anything related to the identity and sanctities of our nation’.

The Gaza Government Media Office has said that Israel has demolished 610 mosques and three churches within the last 10 months in Gaza, killed over 40,200 Palestinians, and reduced the Palestinian territory into rubble.

The US-based advocacy group CAIR wrote that Israel’s “war on the Palestinian people in Gaza is also a war on Islam itself” and urged the Biden White House to denounce the ‘zealot-like’ desecrations of Muslim holy sites and cease arming the Israeli authorities.

The burning of the Quran by Israeli forces by tossing the holy book at a burning pyre as the world observes the unfolding crisis in Gaza compounds the conflict, adding another dimension to the tensions and making many calls for international intervention in the protection of the religious sites of Palestine.
