Pakistan thanks Trump for acknowledging Kabul bomber capture

Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif thanked the US for appreciating Pakistan’s contribution to arresting Afghan terrorist Shareefullah, who was involved in the attack on the 2021 Kabul airport, vowing further cooperation.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the United States for recognizing his country’s role in arresting the Afghan terrorist behind the planning of the fatal 2021 suicide bombing at the Kabul airport that killed 13 troops and 170 Afghans during the US withdrawal from Afghanistan.

We appreciate and acknowledge US President Donald Trump’s recognition of and appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts and contribution towards regional counter-terrorism in the backdrop of Pakistan Security Forces’ recent capture of ISKP’s highest-rank operational commander Shareefullah, an Afghanistan National. The designated terrorist was nabbed in a successful operation launched in the Pakistan-Afghan border area,” he posted on X.

The determination of our leadership and people is unwavering, to eliminate the scourge of terrorism from our nation. We shall continue to closely cooperate with the United States in achieving regional peace and stability,” he said.

Trump, speaking to the joint Congress at Capitol Hill last Tuesday evening, announced that the US was extraditing the “top terrorist” responsible for the 2021 bombing at the Abbey Gate in Afghanistan that killed 13 US service members.

Tonight, I am honoured to report that we have just captured the leading terrorist responsible for that massacre, and he is currently on his way here to receive the swift sword of American justice,” Trump declared in his address to Congress.

A White House spokesman confirmed that Mohammad Sharifullah, who had been accused of being involved in planning the lethal Abbey Gate bombing in 2021 during the withdrawal from Afghanistan, was being extradited to America.

Pakistan responded to a tip from the CIA that had resulted in Sharifullah being taken into custody, a source familiar with the case said. Trump’s CIA Director, John Ratcliffe, brought it up during his initial phone call with the Pakistani intelligence chief, which occurred during his first few days on the job, the source said.
