Oil and gas discovery offers relief to Pakistan’s energy crisis.
In a development that promises to alleviate Pakistan‘s ongoing gas shortage, state-run entity MPCL has reported a significant oil and gas find in Sindh. The Shawaal-1 exploration well, drilled to a depth of 1136 metres in Daharki, reported a daily yield of 1040 barrels of crude oil and 2.5 million cubic feet of natural gas.
MPCL CEO Fahim Haider lauded the team’s use of advanced geoscience tools that led to the successful discovery. This follows the entity’s exploration efforts in KP earlier this year.
In November last year, PPL also announced that natural gas reserves were detected after drilling to 2545 metres in Sajawal, Sindh.
Experts assess the newly found resources’ production potential and means to harness them fully.
The ongoing drilling endeavours aim to bolster the country’s energy security while grappling with shortages. Analysts say these discoveries if commercially tapped, can alleviate power crisis fears.
Oil and gas finds offer hope provided reserves can be expeditiously put to use, observe analysts.
