PM Modi celebrates Indian-American unity at long Island event

He enchanted tens of thousands at an energized community gathering meeting at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, NY. The crowd erupted in a chorus of Modi’ as the head of the government entered the hall.

Announcing his speech with the sectarian political chant “Bharat Mata ki Jai,” Modi traced the origins of the global recognition of the Indian greeting Namaste to the Indian expatriate community.

It included a cultural show that enthralled the audience as they waited for the Prime Minister to speak. Modi recalled the meetings he had in the United States in the past, including the ones in Madison Square Garden in 2014, San Jose in 2016, Houston in 2018, Washington in 2023, and finally, the Long Island celebration.

Emphasising the importance of the Indian community in the USA, Modi revealed that people of Indian origin work to build the bond between India and America. “You have crossed seven seas, but nothing can lessen the love for India in your heart,” he said.

He accepted that India’s Old Rush could produce a diverse pool of immigrants who have assimilated into American citizenry but celebrates their oneness with the slogan ‘Vande Mataram.’ With this team spirit, he observed it to be their source of strength as they can be orderly citizens within society and the world.

Talking about the diaspora as Rashtradoots, meaning ambassadors, Modi said that he is grateful for the respect India has received in the United States. He ended by announcing that Indian values and this great culture remain the nation’s strength, and that’s the spirit of “One.”
