Pope Francis hospitalized for Bronchitis amid ongoing health concerns

Pope Francis has been admitted to a Rome hospital for tests and treatment related to bronchitis, a condition that continues to pose a threat to the 88-year-old pontiff’s health, the Vatican confirmed.

As per a statement released on Friday, Pope Francis suffers from chronic bronchitis which has necessitated several hospital visits. He was admitted after attending to various Slovak officials and meeting with the prime minister before undergoing diagnosis tests.

The pope was diagnosed with bronchitis last week intending to host a variety of events for the public, including presiding over bent Mass services in a general audience. However, he struggled with the speeches himself and was only able to offer assistance through the help of aides as a result of his breathing issues.

Since the commencement of his term, Francis has led the catholic church while dealing with an array of health problems including the flu in the last 2 years. The now second oldest Pope, he began suffering from illness at a younger age, including acute bronchitis in the winter and a long term ailment of half a lung permanently taken out of him. To aid with mobility, he has been relying on the assistance of a walking cane, wheelchair and was taken to the hospitl using a walker.

Pope Francis relies on his personal physician, Dr. Roberto Bernabei, a specialist in internal medicine and geriatrics, along with his personal nurse, Massimiliano Strappetti, who has been credited with saving his life during a previous health crisis. Both accompany him on international trips, ensuring he receives the necessary medical care.
