New Analysis Finds UK PM’s Family Wealth Surpasses the King’s
An annual survey of Britain’s richest inhabitants revealed that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty’s combined fortune now exceeds King Charles III’s. The Sunday Times Rich List estimated the couple’s assets increased £122 million over the past year, bringing their net worth to an estimated £651 million.
Murty’s sizable stake in Indian IT giant Infosys founded by her father played a major role. At #245, the Sunaks are the richest occupants of 10 Downing Street in recorded history. Comparatively, the King’s personal wealth was recently calculated at £610 million, underscoring the PM’s elite financial standing.
Last year’s rankings likewise positioned the family higher than the late Queen Elizabeth II’s documented worth of more than £370 million.
The revelations come as the UK grapples with a devastating cost of living crisis. Charitable food banks reported an all-time high of over 3 million parcels distributed in the past 12 months.
As a former hedge fund manager and Goldman Sachs analyst, Sunak possesses financial expertise guiding policy responses. However, Murty represents the greatest source of household fortunes through her business interests.
