At least five Palestinians have been reported killed in an Israeli airstrike on a vehicle in the Tubas city of the occupied West Bank, while a teenager died of a bullet wound to the head fired by Israeli forces in the Far’a refugee camp, according to the Wafa news agency.
On Thursday, the Israeli military leaders stated that their aircraft was involved in ‘three different attacks’ on the Palestinian fighters considered as a threat in Tubas. Eyewitnesses have said that Israeli soldiers shot at least eight bullets at 16-year-old Majed Fida Abu Zeina in Far’a, allegedly denying medical teams access to the victim; Israeli forces later used a military bulldozer to remove the boy’s body from the site.
Palestinian medics said earlier on the day that five people were killed in the airstrike, and two others were injured, with one in critical condition. Later on, reports from Reuters highlighted that at least six people died from the drone attack, with some horrific pictures of the victims’ bodies being ferried.
This has been done by the Palestine Red Crescent Society at Tubas Turkish Government Hospital, where the injured and the dead bodies were taken. Wafa also hinted that there are continuing raids by the Israelis in al-Ein refugee camp in Nablus, west of the West Bank.
Last week, Israel carried out a large-scale military operation across the West Bank that cost at least 39 Palestinians’ lives and left more than 130 people injured, mostly in Jenin. Nida Ibrahim, from Al Jazeera, presented the ongoing Israeli patrols in and around Jenin. Further, the roads and homes were wrecked inside the refugee camp and a scarcity of medicine and food.
The OCHA stated it was appalled by the employment of ‘lethal war-like tactics’ on the part of the Israeli forces, especially concerning the high toll on children.
These military operations, mostly targeting the Tulkarem and particularly Jenin refugee camps, represent the most massive Israeli operation in the territory since the second uprising in the early 2000s. Due to these raids, violence erupted, and many people were arrested. A lot of properties and infrastructure were destroyed, and humanitarian organizations were deployed to size up the situation.
Palestinian health authorities put the death toll at 685, including 157 children since October who were shot dead by Israeli forces and settlers in the occupied territory.
