Russia and US clash over Moscow shooting, ISIS-K involvement questioned

Russia and the United States made it clear that they are concerned about the recent Crocus Hall tragedy shooting. The attack, the casualties of which have been nearly 140 people and the wounded – 182, has become a starting point of a question: ISIS-K relation to the problem.

The initial data shows that in a rock concert, a band of new wave talent, four men, even a representative of Tajik nationality, storm in. The Islamic State group announced on Telegram to be the culprit behind the attacks and stated its terrorists armed with various weapons have conducted such operations.

On the contrary, Russian President Vladimir Putin has another version and insinuates that one Ukrainian could be accused of the violence. A Ukrainian citizen was detained in arrest, and it was revealed that he was part of the perpetrator group that tried to flee into Ukraine, allegedly having assistance in crossing the border.

It may be added that these remarks by Putin are in the background of the ongoing Russian war against Ukraine, which has been going at a full scale since the time it started with the invasion in February 2022.

Following the reports about ISIS-K connections, Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson of the Russian foreign ministry, claimed that those were only misguided attempts by the United States to distract the attention towards their interests in Ukrainian policy. She exposed the fact that, in the past, the United States led “mujahideen” combatants in the Soviet-Afghan war that took place in the 1980s.

While the investigation is still ongoing, Dmitry Peskov, the administration’s spokesperson, refrained from commenting on Islamic State’s case, whose authentic information about the attack was confirmed by American intelligence. Peskov adduced that such responsible data, connected with the investigation, can not be transmitted at early stages.

Being still in the process of this case, the quarrel between Russia and the USA on the question if ISIS-K fighters could organize an attack in Moscow becomes another degree of complexity for the incident that had already taken many innocent lives. The search for truth and justice still plays the primary virtue since the investigative work continues while aiming to get down to the root cause of the deadly monument.
