Russia assures discharge of Indians serving in its military

Stating this, the Russian Embassy in India has recently released an official message about the death of Indian people in the Russian army, and the Russian government has also saddened the death by issuing condolences. In a bid to discharge and repatriate some of these individuals from the war torn country, the embassy has said it is closely coordinating with Indian authorities in the same.

The statement comes months after India, for instance, has been urging Russia to protect or evacuate Indian nationals working for the Russian military. The embassy has reiterated its commitment to the fact that Moscow will be held to its contractual agreement and will pay all due compensation to the affected Indian nationals.

More significantly, the Russian government also stated that since April of this year, the Russian Ministry of Defense has ceased accepting citizens of some foreign countries, i.e., Indians, for enrollment in the Russian Armed Forces.

‘As for the public or covert campaigns, which, according to the article, the Russian Government has not been involved in any at all, let alone in scams, the Embassy further points out that the Russian Government only seeks to recruit Indians for military services in Russia. ’

Sufferings of the Indian who were deceived into serving the Russian cause

The matter of Indian citizens serving in the Russian military was one of the concerns of the Indian government. The Ministry of External Affairs said that four Indians are among those killed in the Russia- Ukraine war.

Speaking to ANI, foreign secretary Vinay Kwatra has said that India has been continuously raising this issue with the Russian authorities, and Indian nationals in the war zone should be brought back to India.

According to newspaper and other media sources, over the course of the war, at least 200 Indian nationals served as security helpers in the Russian army. The MEA has clarified that a total of 10 such people have been liberated and repatriated to India up to now.

It is, however, positive that the Russian Embassy promises to discharge and repatriate the Indians, as the Government is equally employing all its efforts to guarantee the safety and the return of its people trapped in the violent confrontation.
