Sources reports Kremlin cautious, as Poland indicates that US military aid stream to Ukraine is already back in full gear. Russia has been tight-lipped about Ukraine’s embrace of a United States ceasefire agreement.
The Kremlin announced on Wednesday that Russia was expecting a briefing from the United States after the negotiations with Ukrainian leaders before it would make a statement regarding its position on the planned ceasefire. There are, however, indications that Moscow is cautious, and US military assistance to Kyiv has resumed rapidly.
Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that it’s crucial not to “get ahead” of the question of how to react to the ceasefire offer and added that the possibility of a phone call between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump to talk on the issue is not excluded.
We believe that Secretary of State Rubio and Advisor [Michael] Walz in the next few days will report to us on the negotiations conducted and the agreements reached,” he said. Russia is pushing [on the battlefield], so it will be different with Russia,” Senator Konstantin Kosachev wrote in a Telegram post. “Any agreements must be on our terms, not American.
A high-ranking Russian official said that Russia would have to negotiate the terms of any ceasefire and receive promises of some kind. It is complicated for Putin to sign this in its present format,” the official said. “Putin has a good position because the Russians are advancing.”.
In reaction to Ukraine’s consent to the ceasefire offer, the US committed to resuming its military assistance and intelligence sharing with Kyiv, which were put on hold last week after Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy fought.
Poland, which is a logistics hub for the passage of military aid to its eastern neighbour, declared on Wednesday morning that the arms flow was already at pre-blockade levels.
“I confirm that arms deliveries via Jasionka [logistics hub] have returned to previous levels,” Poland’s Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski told reporters. The news was welcomed by Kyiv’s European allies, who are now seeking to up the pressure on Russia to respond to the ceasefire proposal.
