Sabotage strikes France’s high-speed rail ahead of the Paris Olympics

But the setbacks suffered by SNCF are even greater: recent years are characterized by a series of ‘‘sabotage’’, such as the suspected arson attack that affected some of the high-speed rail lines in France in the days before the inauguration celebration of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The attacks, referred to as a series of ‘sabotage’, continued on the investigation insider, have severely affected the operation of the TGV by causing the cancelation and delay of many routes.

Large scale disruption on the TGV network, SNCF French state railway said to AFP stating that the incidents hinder completion of the Atlantic, northern and eastern line.

The French transport minister, Patrice Vergriete, also expressed his disappointment in the act, describing it as a criminal act that will lead to very serious consequences for train service for the whole weekend, speculating that there will be a fifty percent cut in connection to northern, eastern, and northwestern regions.

The operator is now unable to run a large number of services and SNCF’s chief executive, Jean-Pierre Farandou, stated that the fire impact and consequent diversions impose inconvenience on about 800000 passengers.

As a result of the two terror incidents that are feared to have been organized in anticipation of the Olympics opening ceremony, which is expected to attract 300,000 people, including dignitaries, questions have been raised over the security and efficiency of the much-hyped event.

SNCF has called on passengers to delay their travel and avoid railway stations while trying to resume as many services as possible by Monday, July 29.
