Saudi king receives treatment; Crown Prince cancels Japan trip

Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest oil exporter, is ruled by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, 88. The Crown Prince has postponed his visit to Japan because he was recently hospitalized with inflammation.

Regarding the king’s health, reports referring to the information of the Saudi news agency SPA state that King Salman has inflammation after receiving tests in Jeddah. He is still in the medical facility and getting his antibiotic medication.

The deputy prime minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, also the Crown Prince, has had to cancel a trip to Tokyo because his father is sick. On Tuesday, bin Salman held a talk about regional changes with visiting US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in Dhahran, citing the Gaza war and the urgency of attaining a ‘reasonable course to the two-state solution.’

King Salman has been the monarch of Saudi Arabia since the passing of the previous king, King Abdullah, in the year 2015. On October 16th, 2020, he went through surgery to have the gallbladder removed from his body.

His appointment in 2017 as the heir apparent and the removal of Mohammed bin Nayef enhanced the assertion that he is the master of Saudi Arabia’s day-to-day administration.
