Targeting Bangladeshi Hindus: 49 teachers resign since Hasina’s ouster

Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad, a student organization of Bangladesh, claimed that at least 49 minority teachers were forced to resign.

Further, within Bangladesh, there has been a spiraling of hardships for the ethnic minorities, especially Hindus, once the shame of a Sheikh Hasina’s led government fell on the 5th of August.

Since then, at least 49 teachers from the minority have been terminated, and some have been assaulted at the workplace, most media outlets have reported.

But later, 19 of them were reinstated. The Daily Star newspaper quoted the Bangladesh Chhatra Oikya Parishad’s coordinator, Sajib Sarkar, as saying.

Sarkar has pointed out that the religious and ethnic minorities have also been targets of violence, threats, looting, molesting women and girls, destruction of religious places of worship, burning of houses and business premises, and killings during this period.
