Global icon and pop queen Taylor Swift has finally spoken out about politics, particularly the upcoming election in the United States. She is endorsing Kamala Harris for President. After a presidential debate, Swift went to Instagram to endorse Harris, calling her a “steady-handed, gifted leader. ”
In her post, Swift declared that she would vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. She also remarked on how Harris defends such rights and causes that are important to her and that the country could do so much more under a leadership marked by steadiness and vice turbulence. Swift also addressed herself as the ‘‘childless cat lady’’ – a commentary on the words of Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance.
Before this speech, she had not participated in many political issues despite her fans revolting for Kamala under the tag “Swifties for Kamala”. It’s saddening that there are artificial intelligence fabricated images that depict her as a supporter of Trump.
Still, engaging her followers to “do your research”, Swift did not tell them “voters, vote for her [Harris],” stressing the fact of their independence. She also said that she appreciated the support of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Harris’s vice-presidential running mate, with whom she had agreed on issues such as LGBTQ+ rights and reproductive freedom for women.
Given the continued modern following, Swift’s endorsement is expected to massively boost the particular product. This political inclusion is a change from her initial decision to avoid politics and not get involved in politics, a decision she has declared since endorsing democrats in recent elections.
