Taylor Swift’s Kamala Harris endorsement may have backfired: Poll.
Pop star Taylor Swift openly endorsed Kamala Harris for US President on social media post the VP debate last month.
However, a YouGov poll cited by the NY Post suggests Swift’s nod turned more voters away than attracted them.
Data showed that 8% said they were more likely to vote for Harris after Swift’s backing, but 20% felt less inclined. Most respondents (66%) said the endorsement made no difference to their voting preference.
While 41% felt celebrities should avoid political statements, 38% were okay with such endorsements. Swift took a dig at JD Vance over his “childless cat lady” remark in her pro-Harris Instagram post to 283 million followers.
Though voter registration on vote.gov spiked after her announcement, Harris maintained a narrow lead as per polls.
The endorsement does not seem to have helped boost the Democrat leader significantly as per early indications. Public reactions highlight the complex dynamic between celebrity influence and political choices.
