Tensions escalate between Israel and Turkey over Gaza conflict

The conflict in Gaza goes on, and so does Israel and Turkey’s conflict of words and threats of military aggression.

The conflict emerged when Erdogan, the Turkish President, said that his country was capable of participating in the fight against Israel in operations, asserting that there is no justification as to why Turkey cannot wage a war the way it has done in other areas.

Israel responded to Erdogan with anger, and as an act of retaliation, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz warned Erdogan against following the fate of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, who was hunted down and executed.

Turkey’s government then proceeded to compare the current Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Hitler as they warned, ‘As Hitler, the genocide namely the Jewish people mass killer and genocide Netanyahu too will end’.

Erdogan has acted vigorously in words during the 10 months’ Gaza conflict and has paralleled Turkey’s involvement in Nagorno-Karabakh and Libya. The trip installed Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s Erdogan Turkey factor, asserting that Erdogan has turned to the voice of conscience of global humanity to warn Israel and its “Zionist circles” not to try to stifle this ‘moral conscience’.

It has also taken an economic aspect, with Turkey enforcing a ban on the exportation of goods and services to Israel and completely canceling the agreement, while the latter has made indications that it will also cancel the free trade agreement it had with Turkey.

While the Gaza conflict is ongoing, conflicts between Israel and Turkey are also aggravating, which is why the escalation in the region might be expected.
