In this regard, there has been a recent Israeli incursion in Jenin that led to the killing of seven Palestinians, with several others getting injured. This has aggravated the volatile situation, particularly in the West Bank, which is under Israeli occupation.
During the current violence, the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas has dismissed any preparation to bring in foreign forces into the Gaza Strip, let alone jeopardize the ability of Palestinian rule over the territory. This stance is as the Israeli attack goes on in Gaza, thus resulting in frequent forced evacuation of Palestinians.
In the preceding background, there have been at least reports of what can be referred to as a ‘breakthrough’ in the ongoing negotiations for a ceasefire.
The head of Israel’s Mossad spy agency, David Barnea, accompanied a delegation of negotiations to Doha, which is seen as a protective sign. Nevertheless, the gaps between the sides are still rather evident; however, by Netanyahu, the ceasefire negotiation will continue next week.
The casualties of the conflict have been rather high: since October 7, when Israel launched a war on Gaza, 38,011 people have been killed, and 87,445 more people have been wounded. On the Israeli side, the casualty rate as a result of the ongoing Hams-led attack is recorded to be 1, 139 and many are still captives in Gaza.
So far, everything is still unsettled and quite fragile. As the ceasefire negotiations are on the agenda of the international monitors and mediators, everyone is pinning their hopes on a definite halt of the warfare and for the beginning of the peace process, which will contribute to the creation of a climate of stability.
