Israel-Palestine Conflict Escalates Amid Intense Fighting in Gaza.

Fighting between Israel and Palestinian militants continued to escalate. Israeli tanks advanced into Gaza City’s Shujayea district, reportedly trapping civilians.

Footage obtained by Al Jazeera also showed Israel using Palestinian prisoners as human shields to search for explosives. Further, an Israeli drone strike in Golan Heights injured a soldier.

Palestinian casualties continue to mount with at least 37,877 killed and 86,969 injured since October 7 according to Gaza Health Ministry. Israel estimates 1,139 deaths on its side.

In the West Bank, militants from Fatah’s armed wing claimed to confront Israeli forces in Nur Shams camp. However, Israel freed dozens of Gaza detainees including a hospital director.

The director alleged torture of Palestinian inmates in Israeli prisons with several dying during interrogation.

Meanwhile, over 75 handguns and weapon parts were seized in the West Bank as they were being smuggled from Jordan. Further, Israeli airstrikes in Rafah killed a Palestinian and injured others.

In Southern Lebanon, many fled towns following rising tensions but some remained dependent on land despite threats. Intense clashes persisted with at least 23 more Palestinian deaths reported in the past 24 hours.

Videos emerged of released detainees receiving medical assistance. Similarly, footage verified by fact-checkers showed thick smoke over Gaza’s Shujayea after five days of Israeli shelling and ground assault.
