The famous stock market of Copenhagen is in flames

The historical backbone of financial downtown Denmark was on fire, a sad day for the country, above all the city, as the iconic Copenhagen Stock Exchange building was reduced to a heap of rubles. This architectural beauty, symbolizing the city’s high mercantile virtue, stood unyielding to the fire’s never-ending assault, which had, after all, left its formerly beautiful facade stained by the fatal flame.

Thus, panes of choking smoke crisscrossing the Danish capital sky, draping the sought for the groundling, the scenario was well-ordered. The local rescuers tried hard to demand the situation and to fight the fire, while their cars rushed and their sirens screamed full a long while they were coming to the burning building. On the outside, the mesmerized people stood in shock with amazement that filled their faces with the engineered fire burned by the historical structure’s ornate stonework.

From generation to generation, the Copenhagen Stock Exchange has been the stately landmark of the city’s business acumen. Its imposing figure had been like the ever-assuring static symbol on the dynamic canvas of the financial market. Now, with growing ashes, the manner in which the building might survive became a big question mark since the heroes had no coolers in their weaponry.

By the time night came, mournful silence had fallen over the thrilling bustle of the trading floor; the chaotic sounds of trading were replaced by gunshots and firefighters’ shouts. The picturesque scene took me aback and at once evoked the thought that even the most magnificent structure depends on nature’s will, which might be unfavourable at times.

While the cause of the inferno remained uncertain, one thing was clear: the citizens of Copenhagen were living in an era that would go down in history as one of the worst tragedies. Eventually, as the black smoke spread and the red cinders exhausted, the hard-working reconstruction and restoration silhouettes appeared as symbols of triumph over calamity.

Following the fateful event, which claimed many lives, the precarious buildings, representing the prosperity of the former Copenhagen Stock Exchange, now serve as an emblem of the fragility of all we treasure.
